What’s behind your walls?

You may not know how to identify the age of the wiring in your home. You might own an older home and decide it’s time to upgrade your home’s electrical wiring system, or want to remodel part of your home, but don’t know where to begin. We can help.

If your home was built before the year 1965, the chances that your home contains wiring systems such as BX (steel-covered cable, 1920s-1930) or knob-and-tube (late 19th, early 20th century wiring method) are highly probable. Many insurance companies will no longer insure homes with early 19th century wiring wiring methods like knob-and-tube, and in some cases BX. We offer consultation services to determine the extent of the existence of this wiring in a home and can estimate closely the cost of replacing the wiring. We have removed and replaced the wiring in dozens, if not hundreds of homes all over Rhode Island.
